Effects of weight loss methods on body composition and physical fitness

Abstract
The subjects were divided into three groups and each group was assigned to three different weight loss program : 1)exercise 2)intake of medication 3)diet. The duration of the experiment was 12weeks. For the exercise group, intake of appropriate amount of food to maintain current body weight was subscribed with exercise of 3~4 times a week. The subscription of a medication pill group was advised to keep appropriate amount of maintain their current body weight and subscribed 10mg reductil per day. The diet group took 500kcal less than need to keep the current weight. There was no significant difference of body composition result among groups. All three groups reduce weight and body fat as a result of the experiment. However lean body mass, abdomen circumference and body mass index decreased for the exercise and the diet group whereas the subscription group appeared to experience no difference. There was no difference among the groups with physical fitness test. Flexibility, cardiopulmonary endurance improved with the exercise group and diet group, respectively. In the case of grip strength, resulted improved in diet group and there was no difference within exercise and medication group. For back strength, all within three group improved. In summary of our research, there are no significant differences among the effects of three diet treatments over 12 weeks. Neither pre- nor post-inspection of each test group showed any consistent result, which can help deduce advantages or disadvantages of different diet treatments.
